Get a classic daytime look in 5 minutes!

If, like us, you haven’t yet got back into the swing of things this year, we think you’ll be grateful for a few more minutes in bed. With this in mind, we’ve created a classic day time make-up look which can be done in 5 minutes flat.

Yes, we know, and you’re welcome.

 0 – 2 minutes: Skin

Once your moisturiser has absorbed properly, apply Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer, R320 (available at Woolworths) as this will help give your foundation a more even finish. Next apply your foundation. We love Yves Saint Laurent Teint Radiance Radiance – Enhancing Flawless Foundation SPF20, R540, because it is a fantastic multi – tasking product: it hides imperfections, enhances radiance, and contains sun protection. Apply it using your fingertips, paying attention to your t – zone (across your forehead, down your nose, and onto your chin) and blend the excess outwards across your cheeks. If you are prone to getting oily during the day, use a soft brush to dab a light dusting of pressed powder, again over the t – zone. Try Maybelline Fit Me! Pressed Powder, R139.95.

2 – 4 minutes: Eyes

A basic smoky eye is much easier and less time consuming than you’d think. Pull you eye slightly outwards to make the skin taught, use a black or dark brown eye pencil to make a rough line across the top of your lash line (don’t worry about making it too neat). Maybelline’s Master Drama Khol Liners, R89.95 each work amazingly. Then, using a bullet – shaped brush, blend the line outwards towards your temples to create a slight flick at the corners. If you like, you can use the excess colour on the brush to outline your bottom lashes as well. We love MAC brushes, as we’ve found them to last the longest. Next, use the eyeliner to fill – in between your lashes and your tear line (the inner rim of your eye). This will make your lashes look super thick. Lastly, apply a coat of The Body Shop Divide and Multiply Mascara, R90 to finish the look.

 4 – 4.5 minutes: Cheeks

To give your cheeks a natural glow, smile, and apply the blush to where the apples of your cheeks pop out. If you have oily skin, use a powder formula like Revlon Smooth On Blusher R140, and if you have drier skin, you could use a cream, liquid or gel formula. We love Benefit Posie Tint R285 (available at Woolworths).

4.5 – 5 minutes: Lips

As you’ve created the drama on your eye, you don’t need anything too crazy on your lips. Keeping it natural will also make for easier touch – ups during the day. You can choose gloss or lipstick; it just depends on what you’re most comfortable with. Just make sure the shade you choose is similar to your natural lip colour.
