Aperol serves up spritzes and smashes at its padel tournament

This past weekend, Aperol turned up the heat in Rosebank with an unforgettable day of sport, sunshine, and Aperol Spritzes at its padel tournament. Whether swinging a racquet or sipping a perfectly poured Aperol Spritz, every moment celebrated the joys that make life sweeter.

Guests were welcomed by Xola Mbadamana, Brand Manager for Aperol, who set the tone for a day that perfectly captured the spirit of Aperol: playful, sociable, and bursting with zest for life. The day’s festivities kicked off with an Aperol Spritz Masterclass, where guests learned to craft the perfect serve using the iconic 3-2-1 method: 3 parts Cinzano To Spritz, 2 parts Aperol, and 1 part soda water.

After mastering the art of the Spritz, guests hit the padel courts, where friendly competition ruled the day in a lively tournament. Following the action, attendees gathered for a leisurely lunch, where Mediterranean-inspired plates set the scene for an afternoon of connection.

The day was rounded off with a set by South Africa’s ‘Bestie’, DJ Zinhle

Because Aperol believes in the joy of connection, the brand partnered with T-Squared Clothing for the event’s tournament apparel. Founded by Thabiso Mokomele in Gugulethu, T-Squared is a homegrown success story that transformed a school fees hustle into a growing streetwear brand. Every garment is handcrafted in-store, supporting local craftsmanship, empowering youth, and connecting communities through fashion.

More than a tournament, the Padel Playoff was a celebration of South Africa’s social spirit and the growing popularity of padel as the ultimate ‘sport of connection.’ This event marks another exciting chapter in Aperol’s mission to spread spontaneous joy, one sip, one serve, and one spectacular moment at a time.
