Stylist and editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson reaches new heights

Kanye West’s social media posts after Paris Fashion Week got a lot of people asking, “who is Gabriella Karefa-Johnson?” Instead of explaining the controversy, let us rather introduce you to the talented fashion stylist.

New York-based stylist and contributing Vogue fashion editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson has admirably reached many milestones in the fashion industry. She has been in the industry since 2009 and has featured up-and-coming designers and her narrative-led approach is aimed at diversified representation in fashion. In 2021 she was the first black woman to style a cover of Vogue with Paloma Elsesser and Annie Leibovitz and after that she has styled countless covers and editorials featuring Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid, Precious Lee, Adut Akech and Amanda Gorman. She recently styled the American Vogue September 2022 issue with the 23-time grand slam winner Serena Williams.

Having worked with supermodel Precious Lee, Gabriella contributed towards changing traditional beauty in the fashion industry and what models on magazine covers are supposed to look like. She has also worked with size-inclusive brand Universal Standard and art directed and styled Rosie Assoulin’s By Any Other Name.

Great talent follows recognition as the stylist has been recently selected for The BoF 500 this year. The BoF 500 includes all the people who are shaping the global fashion industry. The industry is changing and we look forward to seeing what else Gabriella has in store for us.

Here is some of what she’s been up to:
