Blogger and one of 2012’s GLAMOUR Women of the Year, Funeka Ngwevela (better known as the Quirky Stylista) shares her book loves.
Funeka: The Goosebumps series by R. L. Stine. The books activated my imagination because they were scary back then and only the brave children read Goosebumps!
GLAMOUR: What
Funeka: Nowadays, I only read non-fiction.
GLAMOUR:
Funeka: My Sister’s Keeper, the movie, was definitely a miss because it did not follow the storyline of the book, which was originally by Jodi Picoult.
GLAMOUR:
Funeka: The last book I read was Drug Muled: Sixteen Years in a Thai Prison by Joanne Joseph. This was a gripping story about Vanessa Goosen, a young South African beauty queen. Her boyfriend conned her into smuggling drugs into Thailand and she finds herself all alone and pregnant in a foreign jail. But in the end she makes it back to South Africa.
GLAMOUR:
Funeka: I like to read in bed before I go to sleep.
GLAMOUR:
Funeka: A piece of paper or a toothpick.
GLAMOUR:
Funeka: I’m reading The Geometry of Violence by Leonhard Praeg. The book was prescribed to me when I was doing my third year in Political Science. Funnily enough, I never wanted to read it then. The book is about what stimulates people or nations to commit violence. It uses real case studies of South African history. So interesting!
