Lesedi Phala is an upcoming artist on our radar

Lesedi Phala, stage name Cedii, is definitely an artist to look out for in 2022. She has just dropped a summer banger, a fire Amapiano track titled “eMcimbini” which is available on all streaming platforms.

Being the versatile artist that she is, she explores a wide range of genres, including contemporary R&B, trap soul, amapiano, hip-hop.... and we are defo here for that.

She draws inspiration from artist’s such as Aaliyah, Lebo Mathosa, Drake, Beyoncé, Summer Walker, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna. Her style is some-what influenced by these legends.

Being an LLB graduate and entering into the music industry is a factor which certainly sets her apart from the rest. We also just had to know how she keeps that body looking snatched!... she told us that her secret (“which is not really a secret because I share this information on social media”) is prioritising her health by being a regular at the gym, which keeps her not only her toned, but helps her to maintain a healthy mind. In addition to that, she has a keen interest in skin care products and may just venture into that industry in the future.

She shared some useful beauty hacks for radiant and healthy skin:

– Sunscreen is your best friend.

– Read point number 1 AGAIN.

– Eat avocados and foods that are high in antioxidants as they have anti-aging properties.

– Invest in a good exfoliator and a vitamin C serum… you need that.

She has fond memories of listening to soulful music which her Mother used to blast mostly in the house while cleaning and which her Father used to play in the car throughout long scenic drives from Johannesburg to Kwa-Zulu Natal (where she spent the formative years of her life).

Her Grandfather, whose also quite musical, used to serenade the family by playing sophisticated jazz tunes on the piano. As evident from above memories, she’s been exposed to an eclectic mix of genre’s which fostered the versatility in her music. Another sentimental memory was when she was gifted a keyboard for her eighth birthday and that was the birth of the creative we see today. Hours would go by with her making up songs on the keyboard whilst singing along (not that the lyrics were any good at the time) but that’s when she knew her passion, that’s when she envisioned her dream and was determined see it come to fruition.

The Pretorian born artist is getting ready to release another hit called "Altar", we are definitely looking forward to this.
