The premiere of The Librarians: The Next Chapter marks a long-awaited return to the beloved fantasy franchise, delivering fresh faces, higher stakes, and a globe-spanning magical mystery that will delight longtime fans and newcomers alike.
Starring Callum McGowan, Olivia Morris, Bluey Robinson, Jessica Green, and Caroline Loncq, the 12-episode series blends humour, heart, and high-octane fantasy. With executive producers Dean Devlin, Marc Roskin, and Rachel Olschan-Wilson, the creative minds behind the original The Librarians, the show expands the mythology while opening the door to entirely new worlds.
Here, Jessica Green who brings the compelling role of Charlie to life, opens up about what drew her to the character, how much they have in common, and the advice she’d give to anyone chasing a dream.
Please tell us about your character. What is she passionate about and what does she struggle with?
Jessica Green: Charlie is amazing. I have so much fun playing her. She’s incredibly passionate about her job. All she wants to do is be the best Guardian she can be, or the best Guardian The Library has because she thinks that she failed. She thinks she wasn’t good enough and that The Library chose other girls over her to become Guardians. This is her second chance to prove herself. She has all this drive and all this passion. She has all the right things, but she doesn’t believe she’s good enough.
Question: Are you and her similar in any way?
Jessica Green: A little bit. She can be a little stubborn and so can I. She’s very loyal and so am I. She likes to kick a little bit of ass, and I do too, but not as much as she does. I do play fighting!
Question: If you can give any advice at all, what would it be?
Jessica Green: Just to be like Charlie. Never give up on your dream. Keep pursuing it, keep pushing it. Eventually you’ll get there. It’s going to be hard. There are going to be knockbacks, but keep rolling with the punches.
Question: What can the audience expect from The Librarians: The Next Chapter?
Jessica Green: A magical world full of adventure. The new cast is amazing. There’s a lot of comedic bits, so there’s something for everyone. There’s action, comedy, and the magical aspect. If they’re fans of shows like Doctor Who or Indiana Jones, they’re going to really love this show.
Question: What are you most excited about regarding the series?
Jessica Green: I’m excited to see where we can go. With this show, there’s so much we can do. Every episode is so different. There are so many incredible things we can go after. There’s a never-ending opportunity for where the show can lead.
Question: How does The Librarians: The Next Chapter move on from The Librarians?
Jessica Green: It opens up new worlds. There isn’t just one Librarian or one group of Librarians. There could be multiple, in different parts of the world or different universes. There could be different chapters. It may not just be us. It may not just be Flynn’s crew. There could be another one somewhere else. Different worlds could intertwine.
What will surprise audiences the most?
Jessica Green: The very end of the series when you see who and what leads into season two. Fans of this genre will see who’s coming onboard and get very excited!
Do you have any New Year’s resolutions for 2026?
Jessica Green: To keep living life to the fullest. I’ve got a lot of travel planned – I want to travel more and see the world while I’m young. I’m also wishing for good health for myself and my family.
What are you most looking forward to in the year ahead?
Jessica Green: Hopefully a season three so I can continue this journey!
The Librarians: The Next Chapter is now showing on Universal TV (DStv 117) every Sunday at 6:20 PM with a double bill each week.
