Lea Michele beyond Glee

The popular Glee actress – making her break in cinema in the romantic comedy New Year’s Eve– has auditioned for the part of dramatic character Eponine, in Tom Hooper’s Les Miserables. And it’s no easy role to go for! Lea is going up against pretty strong opposition, with the likes of Taylor Swift, Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood, all vying for the part.

A source told the New York Post, “Lea knocked it out of the park. Scarlett brings acting ability and she can really sing. Evan Rachel Wood brings her indie cred.”

If Lea were to be chosen for the part, it wouldn’t be her first involvement in the production – she played a young Cosette in the Broadway version of the show. The cinematic version of the play currently has top stars Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe and Eddie Redmayne lined up for parts, and the film will be the first for British director Tom following on from his Academy Award for the direction of The King’s Speech.

We’d love to see Lea in a musical role that isn’t Glee. Go team Lea!
