A Snapshot of Our Disruptors' Issue Cover Story featuring DJ Zinhle

Three trailblazers. Three very different journeys. Yet award-winning DJ DJ Zinhle, Naliyani Uma and Ponahalo share one defining quality: the courage to evolve while staying true to themselves. In collaboration with Crocs, a brand synonymous with comfort and self-expression, they reflect on the ambition, authenticity and personal style that continue to set them apart and inspire others.

Success doesn’t happen by chance, it’s built through discipline, persistence and the quiet, often invisible work that takes place long before the applause arrives. It’s a formula DJ Zinhle knows intimately. Over the years, she has not only built an empire, but cemented a legacy defined by longevity, reinvention and undeniable influence. Gracing our cover for the second time, years after her first appearance, is proof of her enduring relevance and her ability to evolve while staying true to herself.

Reflecting on the milestone, she shares: “This cover feels a lot more intentional and grounded. The first time was exciting because it felt like recognition, but now it feels like alignment. I’ve grown so much as a woman, entrepreneur, mother and creative. I’m more confident in who I am and what I represent. This stage of my journey feels like ownership; owning my story, my voice and the space I’ve worked hard to build.” Her return feels especially fitting for our Disruptors Issue, and even more significant as part of our Youth Issue, as someone who continues to inspire and pave the way for the next generation of creatives. The issue celebrates individuals who challenge convention, shift culture and redefine success on their own terms. For the award-winning multi- hyphenate, being a disruptor goes far beyond career milestones or personal style. “Being a disruptor means having the courage to do things differently, even when it feels uncomfortable,” she says. “I’ve never wanted to fit into one box. Whether it’s music, business, fashion or motherhood, I’ve always believed in creating my own lane instead of waiting for permission. Even with my personal style, I love expressing every version of who I am: bold, feminine, playful, powerful. Disruption is really about authenticity and trusting your own vision.”

DJ Zinhle

Having built one of the strongest personal brands in the industry over the years, DJ Zinhle says fashion has always been an extension of who she is. “Some days I want to feel powerful, some days soft and relaxed, and fashion allows me to communicate that without saying a word. Building a personal brand is really about consistency and authenticity, and style plays a huge role in that. It’s not about trends for me, it’s about how I feel.” If you’ve attended any of her shows, you will know that whether she’s behind the decks or commanding a room, her style feels effortless yet intentional; bold, confident and unmistakably authentic. “I dress according to how I want to feel. Fashion can shift your energy completely. Some days I lean into structure and bold silhouettes when I’m in boss mode, and other days I just want comfort and ease. I think the most stylish people are the ones who wear themselves confidently, and that’s always been my approach.” Today she’s sporting Crocs, a globally recognised fashion brand that celebrates individuality and comfort.

Considering how intentional DJ Zinhle is, there must have been something about the brand that captured her attention. “What I love most about Crocs is how unapologetically individual the brand is. It encourages people to show up exactly as they are, and that really resonates with me. Comfort is also a huge part of my life because I’m constantly moving between different roles and environments. I love that Crocs combines comfort with personality and self-expression in such a fun and authentic way,” she affirms. Notably, the trailblazing star has successfully expanded beyond music into business, beauty, fashion and lifestyle.

DJ Zinhle is a disruptor leading the way

Reflecting on her entrepreneurial journey, and the lessons that have shaped her most as a businesswoman, she says, “I’ve always wanted to create opportunities that outlive trends and moments. Music opened doors for me, but entrepreneurship gave me ownership. I was inspired by the idea of and what I represent.
