Violinist Kirsty Bows celebrates her birthday with fashion, music and wins

As Kirsty Bows celebrates her birthday on 21 July, the South African violinist, vocalist, and performance artist marks a bold new era in her creative journey. With a year defined by iconic performances, global campaigns, and an unmistakable fashion-forward presence, Kirsty is quickly becoming one of South Africa’s most magnetic exports.

From headlining the opening ceremony of the Qatar Airways Cup, where she brought the world rugby champions, the Springboks, onto the DHL Stadium field with a one-of-a-kind production, to releasing her latest music video filmed in one take at the iconic St. George’s Cathedral, Kirsty’s 2025 trajectory has been nothing short of cinematic.

Blending her signature electric violin, haunting vocals, and custom-designed fashion pieces, Kirsty’s performances are more than musical — they are visual couture. And as a result have attracted team members of Michael Jackson’s team, South Africans that love hip hop, performing in fashionable G Star Raw outfits, and up to 1,5 million views for her World HSBC Rugby 7s headline performances. For the Qatar Airways Cup, she designed a bespoke winged outfit that moved with every bow stroke, marrying sound and silhouette in a display of artistic bravado.

Kirsty’s music video, a soulful interpretation of Coldplay’s Every Teardrop is a Waterfall, was filmed without a single cut inside one of Cape Town’s most sacred architectural landmarks. The video is a testament to her commitment to storytelling and cutting through the noise - minimal, powerful, and laced with authenticity.

As a frequent feature in world-stage campaigns (including for Saudi Arabia’s NEOM Gidori and Sony’s global spots), and a two-time headliner for HSBC Rugby Sevens, Kirsty is building a career where music meets global influence, and fashion is the thread that holds it all together.

Now, as she took to the stage once again for GLAMOUR's Most GLAMOROUS Awards, she did so with purpose: to reflect on her growth, inspire bold artistry, and champion South African excellence on every stage — from catwalks to stadiums.

“Every performance I give is a chance to honour where I come from and express where I’m going. It’s a celebration of art, identity, and movement,” says Kirsty.

With a growing global following, verified social platforms, and new music and collaborations on the horizon, Kirsty Bows is just getting started.
