The most kickass Menstrual Hygiene Day IG posts

Menstrual supplies don’t come cheap, but for anyone with a period, they’re absolutely essential. Women living in poverty-stricken areas who don’t have the luxury of a healthy income are forced to resort to toilet paper, old scraps of fabric or absolutely nothing at all during their time of the month.

In fact, a shocking study carried out by WaterAid and Unicef found that a third of girls in South Asia skip school when they’re on their period.

That’s why Menstrual Hygiene Day (MH Day) on May 28 is so important. It raises awareness of the challenges these women face and open the dialogue on menstruation.

Here are some of the kickass ways women were trailblazing for change on this momentous day…

It’s a bloody day💃💃. Let’s talk about it, period! 💪 Menstruation is no taboo! Menstrual blood is the only source of blood that is not traumatically induced yet in modern society it is the most hidden blood. The one so rarely spoken of and almost never seen except privately by women – Judy Grahn. Dear young girl, the thing about menstruation is that we didn’t create it. We are made to go through as a natural phenomena. Stop feeling ashamed about it. Stop being embarrassed talking about it. Ensure a clean and healthy cycle, Chart your period, take in vitamins, stay hydrated, eat healthy foods, get enough sleep and…. Be comfortable in your body…. Let’s support girls who can’t afford sanitary towels to ensure a clean and safe period. Let’s break the silence. Happy Menstrual Hygiene Day to every female and thank you to our supporters and donors of our pad bank. #TheButterflyEffect_official #WorldMenstrualDay #WMD2018 #MenstrualHygieneDay
