Beauty collaborations are hardly new, but every now and then, one comes along that makes you pay attention before you even know exactly what is being sold. Huda Beauty’s latest campaign with Cardi B is one of them.
The two have teamed up for Ultra Snatched, a new extension of Huda Beauty’s much-loved Easy Bake powder range. This time, the focus is on brightening pink and cool lilac powders, designed to give the complexion a more lifted, blurred and wide-awake finish.
As popular as Huda Beauty’s powders already are, though, it wasn’t necessarily the makeup that had everyone talking. It was the campaign.
Instead of a standard beauty campaign filled with close-ups and product shots, Huda Kattan and Cardi B went full comedy. The campaign borrows from the classic Freaky Friday body-swap concept, with the pair switching personas after using the Ultra Snatched powder. Cardi suddenly finds herself navigating Huda’s beauty-mogul world, while Huda transforms into an exaggerated, larger-than-life version of Cardi.

The build-up started before the full campaign was even revealed. Huda Beauty temporarily rebranded itself as “Cardi Beauty”, giving fans very little context. Naturally, social media started doing what it does best: speculating. Was Cardi launching her own beauty brand? Was she becoming the new face of Huda Beauty? Or was a full-blown collaboration on the way?
By the time the full campaign arrived, the guessing had turned into reaction posts, memes and commentary. Viewers praised the ad for being funny, camp and intentionally over-the-top, with Cardi’s personality becoming one of its biggest talking points. Some even joked that the fake Cardi Beauty branding looked convincing enough to deserve a real launch.

More than anything, people seemed to appreciate that the campaign actually had an idea behind it. Cardi wasn’t simply photographed holding a compact while a product name flashed across the screen. There was a storyline, a joke and enough personality to make the ad feel like something people might willingly watch.
Of course, social media rarely agrees on anything. Some viewers thought the campaign was slightly too long, while others questioned whether celebrity collaborations actually influence what they buy. Still, even some of the more critical reactions admitted that the campaign was entertaining.
That ad Huda Beauty and Cardi B did is a 10/10 across the board.
The team behind that project absolutely understood the assignment. 👏🏽🔥
