As consumers embrace longevity, prevention and more targeted routines, neck and décolletage care is moving into the beauty spotlight.
For years, skincare routines have focused almost exclusively on the face. Cleansers, serums and moisturisers promised brighter, smoother and healthier-looking skin, while the neck and décolletage were often overlooked.
That is beginning to change. Across the global beauty industry, consumers are moving away from quick fixes and towards preventative, targeted routines designed to support skin health over time. They are also paying closer attention to ingredients, product performance and whether brands reflect their personal values.
One category emerging from this shift is dedicated neck care.
The skin on the neck is thinner than facial skin, contains fewer oil glands and can lose elasticity more quickly. Increased screen time has also brought greater awareness to “tech neck”, the horizontal lines and creasing associated with repeatedly looking down at phones and other devices.
This has encouraged consumers to reconsider where their skincare routines begin and end. Instead of stopping at the jawline, more people are extending their daily care to include the neck and décolletage.
PRAI Beauty recognised the need for this targeted approach long before neck care entered the mainstream beauty conversation. Founded by beauty industry veteran Cathy Kangas, the brand has built its reputation around products specifically formulated for the neck and décolletage, establishing itself as one of the category’s early pioneers.
Its Ageless Throat & Décolletage Crème has since become the brand’s signature product. PRAI Beauty reports that one jar is sold every 60 seconds worldwide and that more than one million people have used the product globally.
“Consumers are becoming far more considered in the way they approach skincare. They want products that address specific needs, fit easily into their routines and are supported by credible results. "Neck care reflects this move towards smarter, more focused beauty,” said Cameron Herman cofounder of Clout Group.
As expectations around product performance continue to rise, PRAI Beauty has also invested in testing its formulations. In a brand-reported seven-day clinical trial involving 30 participants, 97% experienced improved skin elasticity and resilience, while 97% agreed that lines and wrinkles appeared less visible after using the Ageless Throat & Décolletage Crème.
In a separate 30-day consumer-perception study, 75% of participants reported fewer visible fine lines, 72% noticed improved elasticity and 69% experienced reduced sagging. These findings were obtained through testing and consumer studies conducted and reported by PRAI Beauty.
The rise of neck care also sits within a broader movement towards more conscious beauty choices. Consumers increasingly want transparency around how products are developed, what they contain and the values of the companies behind them.
PRAI Beauty’s products are cruelty-free and Leaping Bunny certified. Through its PRAI for Paws initiative, the brand also supports animal welfare organisations, connecting its beauty offering to a wider commitment to animal protection.
For South African consumers, these global shifts are becoming increasingly relevant. Shoppers are looking beyond broad anti-ageing claims and seeking targeted products that combine considered formulations, tested performance and responsible brand values.
The growing interest in neck care is therefore about more than a single product or trend. It reflects an evolution towards preventative, holistic skincare that recognises the importance of caring for the skin beyond the face.
As beauty routines become more focused and informed, PRAI Beauty’s category-first approach demonstrates how meaningful innovation can begin by paying attention to the areas that have traditionally been overlooked.
