The Oscar 2020 nominations are HERE: JLO is snubbed & no women are nominated for Best Director. Again.

Awards season is now upon us, and with that comes the yearly anticipation for the most prestigious night in film. Now in its 92nd year, The Oscars draws together Hollywood royalty to internationally recognise the greatest film achievements over the past year.

Films aside, the Oscars are also known for show-stopping  red carpet outfits, unexpected wins and groundbreaking acceptance speeches that fuel the internet’s memes for weeks.

So what can we expect from this year? Despite it being two years since the outbreak of the #TimesUp and  #MeToo movements, gender equality still appears to be an issue with no women nominated for the Best Director award despite Greta Gerwig's stand out movie,  Little Women. She does however garner nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture.

That's not the only good news for  Little Women as GLAMOUR UK's latest cover star, Florence Pugh has her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress and Saoirse Ronan receives her FORTH nomination for Best Actress In A Leading Role.

Image: Instagram Cynthia Erivo joins Saoirse in the category after being snubbed in an all-white line up at the BAFTA Awards. The nomination goes some way in diversifying the nomination list but with the likes of Lupita Nyong'o snubbed for her star turn in US, it shows a lot of work is to be done if the Oscars are fully representative of the world we live here.

Margot Robbie continues to notch up the nominations for her role in  Bombshell, getting her second Oscar nomination, this time for Best Supporting Actress where she joins Scarlett Johansson who has TWO nominations. Scarlett is nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for  Marriage Story and Best Supporting Actress for  JoJo Rabbit making her the first person in 13 years to achieve this feat since Cate Blanchett in 2007. Go on gurl!

Who are the main winner predictions?

As speculation continues to rise, we’re predicting big wins for Greta Gerwig’s  Little Women, Noah Baumbach’s  Marriage Story and Quentin Tarantino’s  Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, as well as the 10-time nominated  Joker.

We also suspect Charlize Theron will be awarded for her role as Megyn Kelly in Bombshell, while Renee Zellweger is also likely to scoop up an award for her performance in  Judy.
