This season is all about the ankles – here’s how to style your new favourite pair of ankle boots this season. Welcome to boot camp!
Sleek footing
Oxblood boots
from Green Cross, R1 379
Sleek boots with a block heel are a classic design that’s been around for years and clearly isn’t going anywhere. They’re sophisticated and high fashion but still edgy, especially if the heel is shiny and metallic. They also go with pretty much anything so you can wear them at the office as well as a night out with friends. Style them with an LBD or tailored pants and a ruffled blouse for work; then with jeans and a check shirt for a laid back weekend look.
Casual flats
Ankle buckle boots
from Mr Price, R190
These are sure to add a bit of boho-chic edge to your outfit, so save these for more casual set-ups. Wear them with a denim shirt dress or cut-off shorts and an oversized sweater. Not cool enough for you? Tie a check shirt around your waist and you’ll look and feel like you were just at Coachella.
Punk rock
Cut-out boots
from Topshop, R649
If you really want to up your rock star game, then cut-out boots, patent leather combat boots with buckles, spikes or studs should be your go-to items. Wear your cut-out boots with rolled up boyfriend jeans or high waisted black skinny jeans with a graphic T-shirt and oversized cardigan or denim jacket. You can also wear them with a maxi skirt and a tucked in sweatshirt.
And if you really love heels…
Round-toe boots
from Karen Miller, R3 800
If you can’t get enough of sky high stilettoes, pair them leather skinnies and a white shirt or a tailored suit, an LBD or floral mini-dress, coloured leggings and a T-shirt or even a mini-skirt and stockings. You can dress them up or down, depending on where you’re going and layer accordingly depending on how cold it is.
