Having a work BFF apparently makes you better at your job

We knew it all along.

There's something about your work friends that creates an abnormally strong bond quicker than any other friendship. While school friendships take years of nurturing, within weeks of meeting your soon-to-be-work-BFF, you make a connection so deep that you'd trek across the whole office for her stolen mug, and would die for her if someone tried to steal her sandwich from the fridge.

There are no boundaries when it comes to conversation; date night gossip, diet tips, bowel movements, and of course, workplace drama - you spend so much time together, there's nothing you can't tell each other. God forbid one of you ever leaves, you might not make it out alive.

It turns out, however, that these intense friendships are actually great for your career and your mental wellness. Studies have shown that those of us who have strong friendships in the workplace are more interested and more satisfied with their jobs.

A 2014 report commissioned by Gallup showed that those with workplace wifeys are seven times more likely to engage in their work tasks, projects, fulfil their potential and generate better results.

So, there you have it! Now go make your work BFF a coffee and tell her you'll meet her by the printer for lunchtime goss.
