Heritage Day is coming up on Wednesday, 24 September 2025, and there’s no better way to celebrate than by diving into culture, music, art and community. Mojo Market
Mojo Market is bringing a jam packed heritage day street festival in Sea Point headlined by folk storyteller Vusi Mahlasela. He will be joined by the incomparable Zolani Mahola perfoming with her band, The Feminine Force. Jimmy Nevis will also bring his soulful tunes to the day. In total there will be16 live bands, DJs, and artists will perform across various stages, covering every facet of South African musical heritage from traditional and acoustic folk to Afro Jazz, Afro Soul, Afro Pop, Afro House, and the irresistible sounds of Amapiano.
Lira's Homecoming
Lira will light up carnival city alongside Thandiswa Mazwai and Amanda Black, Together, they promise an evening that celebrates heritage in all its complexity and joy. The Business Premium Jazz Festival will be paying tribute to african heritage, celebring women's power through song and dance.
Zeitz MOCAA
Cape Town's popular museum will open its doors for free this heritage day from 10 am to 6pm. There will be multilingual architecture tours, guided exhibitions, workshops (like designing tote bags and making windsock kites), cultural performances and a food market. It’s a chance not just to view art, but to take part in something bigger. Plus, some of your favourite Makers Landing vendors bring the flavour with a special pop-up.It’s a celebration where food, art, and heritage come together and everyone is invited.
