Vanity Fair has released their 2014 International Best-Dressed Poll, and GLAMOUR Book Club were happy to note that alongside the usual actors, musicians and fashionistas was one very stylish author. Known by her menswear-inspired style and somewhat severe black bob, the Secret History author has been in the spotlight a lot over the past year following the publication of her third novel, the bestselling The Goldfinch. A portrait of Tartt photographed by Annie Leibowitz (pictured below) appeared alongside Vanity Fair‘s review of the book.
According to the short interview that she gave alongside the list, Tartt’s favourite item of clothing is a ‘Blue velvet jacket with grosgrain edging and emerald satin lining, Duncan Quinn bespoke,’ and her favourite accessory are vintage kidskin gloves in buttercup yellow. She named American actress Louise Brooks and the character of Harold from black comedy Harold and Maude as her style icons – and presumably the inspiration for the bob and the menswear-inspired looks, respectively.
