The lavish One&Only and decorated with ‘white-with-sparkle’ set the scene for this couple’s glamorous celebration.
“Jimmy and I both met in Cape Town and while we have travelled the world together we both knew we wanted to get married in the Mother City,” says Kendal. “At the time we were living in New York so we embarked on a 30 hour journey to finally tie the knot.”
So how difficult is it to plan a wedding via email? “I single handedly planned the whole wedding in a record 6 weeks all via email, which putting it mildly was pretty darn difficult,” explains Kendal. Phew! Well, at least Kendal and Jimmy knew exactly what they wanted when it came to their big day. “We were both very similar in our desire for how we wanted our wedding to look, simple, elegant and sophisticated with a very neutral colour palette.”
“Regarding the decor we wanted it to reflect our personalities, and while are both very relaxed and simple people we do love a bit of luxury. Keeping it all white with a hint of crystal was just the right amount of ‘bling’ for us,” says Kendal.
Now this is a swoon-worthy dress! We can totally understand why Kendal’s mother burst into tears when she saw her in it. “My dress took about 5 minutes to choose and I knew it was ‘the one’ when I walked out because my mother burst into tears.” Can you believe that she flew all the way to Cape Town with her gown? “I travelled about 30 hours with my dress in my hand (I never knew how heavy a dress could be),” says Kendal. When it came to her look, Kendal decided to do it herself. “Being a makeup artist and stylist I was extremely fussy when it came to how I looked. I felt very strongly about keeping my look as natural as possible.”
