Mother’s Day mood! Jada Pinkett Smith, Michelle Obama, and more celebrity moms who taught their daughters to be fitness focused

For many celebrity mother-daughter duos, fitness comes first. Many A-listers have been known to pass on career tips and tricks to their children entering the industry, but the most meaningful advice all comes down to health, wellness, exercise, and how to live an active and happy life.

Mother’s Day, which falls on May 10, will surely be different this year due to the lockdown, but there are still many ways in which you can celebrate your mom and spend time with her through fun activities. If you live with your mom, or chat with her via video conferencing, why not do an energy-filled, exciting workout together to shake things up, get your hearts racing, and raise the endorphins to the roof on such a special day?

It’s a generational thing! On her Facebook series Red Table Talk, Jada revealed that she loves hard-core workout sessions with her mom, Adrienne Banfield-Jones, and her daughter. “My mom lives in Maryland, but when we’re in town, all three of us work out together. Willow makes sure,” Pinkett Smith explained. Canfield-Jones added: “Willow started working out with us this year, and she is really, extremely passionate about it.” That’s for certain, as Willow once told GLAMOUR, “I always try to do at least 30 minutes of cardio, five days a week. Maybe three to four. I’ve been getting into weightlifting. That’s my thing now.”

The former First Lady and her mini-me’s love hitting the gym together. While launching her Let’s Move! Public Health Campaign, Obama - who is also an avid Lagree Fitness fan - dished that her daughters take after her healthy lifestyle, and she “loves it when the girls join her” for workouts, which often include spinning classes, and running around with the family dog.

While it’s no secret that Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian swear by their dedicated fitness routines, few know that the momager and matriarch, Kris Jenner, also gets in on the fun. “I try to work out as much as possible and eat right,” she once told Health Magazine. “I get tup about 4:30a.m. and workout.” Jenner, who frequently partakes in her daughters’ workouts on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, told GLAMOUR sometime ago that while she cares about her physical appearance, she also promotes the importance of looking inwards: “We have so much to offer one another, and there are so many definitions of beauty. I think to share positive thoughts and to make someone else feel good about themselves is a wonderful thing.

Like mother, like daughter! Not only did Kaia follow in her mother’s legendary modeling footsteps, but she also embraced her rock-solid wellness routine. “The good thing is that [Kaia has] grown up with seeing how I take care of myself, so I really don’t have to say that much to her,” Cindy once told The Cut. “She’s seen me going to bed early, if I have an early call the next day or waking up early to squeeze in a workout. The iconic mother-daughter duo live for their sweat sessions together, as exercise has always been a family value. Speaking to SHAPE, Hudson said that her mother’s decision to enroll her in dance classes “was the best thing she could have done for me. In dance, you’re constantly competing with yourself, and you’re only as good as your practice.” The Fabletics founder never quit, and still loves moving her body to the beat, even to this day! She previously told GLAMOUR that the secret behind her svelte physique is Pilates, running, and dance classes.

Lil Wayne’s daughter, Reginae Carter, keeps it toned by working out hard at the gym - and she especially loves boxing! The social media influencer takes after her mom, who also goes hard. Toya regularly posts workout videos on Instagram, and offers workout and nutrition tips to her fans that have helped her stay snatched and healthy.
