Twitter reacts to Mohale’s riveting tell-all special

Mohale Motaung is finally getting a chance to tell his story. The entrepreneur and media personality was previously married to fellow media star Somizi Mhlongo, and the pair quickly became the poster couple for gay marriage and representation.

Their 2020 SAFTA-nominated wedding special, Somizi & Mohale: The Union, was labelled The Union of the Year, and set a record for most ever first-day views on a Showmax launch. The relationship was also a key focus on Living The Dream With Somizi S4, which won the 2020 SAFT award for Best Structured or Docu-Reality Show.

While the couple seemed to be living in marital bliss, all was not as it appeared. In August 2021, a leaked off-the-record interview with Mohale revealed allegations of physical abuse against Somizi. However, in Living The Dream With Somizi S5, viewers got an inside got view on Somizi version of the breakup.

Now, Mohale is breaking his silence. Mohale: On The Record is a riveting Showmax special, in which the star opens to host Adrian Sampear, host of Unfiltered on SABC 3 and the drive-time show Beyond The Headlines on SAFM. The on-camera interview dropped today exclusively on Showmax, and Mohale is holding nothing back.

"I was happy until certain things started to happen… Like the control and constantly being reminded that I bring nothing to the table except my pretty face," he says in one clip. He also addresses the allegations of physical abuse stating: “I remember him saying that he needs to mess up my face." Yet, he also acknowledges the genuine love they had for each other. "I was really myself when I was with him, and I could express myself in many ways…" he explains.

Safe to say, fans of the pair were on the edge seat with all the tea being revealed, and had much to say on Twitter.

Here are some of their most reeling reactions:
