The smallest handbag in the world could be the latest addition to your ring collection

The internet is buzzing with talk about fashion’s newest “it” bag, which is also the tiniest bag on earth. The bag, retailing at $500 (approximately R7 000), is the brainchild of French brand Jacquemus, who revealed it to the world at Paris Fashion Week.

It’s so incredibly small, that it was barely noticeable as models strutted down the runway. Jacquemus might consider the bag an expression of minimalism, but its size prompted US TV show, Today, to ask the question: “What is this… a bag for ants”?

If you’ve ever been annoyed that you can squeeze nothing more than your phone, keys and lipstick into your clutch bag, just imagine what it would be like to carry this micro bag! We can’t understand how it would be possible for anything to be stored inside of it, making it totally impractical.

Plus, you’re likely to lose it since it can only fit around one or two fingers. Given the hefty price tag, you definitely wouldn’t want that. In actual fact, it’s more like a wearing a ring rather than a handbag, so you should probably make place for it in your jewellery box.

Downsized editions of the hottest accessories have been all the rage of late, and this minuscule bag is one of them. Its big sister is the Jacquemus bestseller, Le Sac Chiquito, with a price range of $345 – $795 (R5 000 – R11 000). Some of the most influential celebs like Riri and Kendall Jenner, have been spotted rocking Le Sac Chiquito and who knows, the mini version may be seen dangling from their fingers very soon!

For everyday shoppers like us, the mini bag will only be available next season. However, those lucky enough to be invited to the Jacquemus Autumn/Winter show at Paris Fashion Week, received their very own bag as a special gift.
