Time for the final part of this seven-part series on the best SA wedding venues (click for the best venues in the Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, on safari and on a beach). As ever, I chatted to wedding pro Gaby Frescura, of SA bridal blog SouthBound Bride, about the best budget, mid-range and blowout hotel wedding venues in SA – and interestingly, all her top picks are in the Mother City. So if swanky and swish in Cape Town is your idea of a great wedding venue, this one’s for you!
Best budget venue:
The Vineyard Hotel, Cape Town

The lowdown: “This gorgeous Cape Town location, in one of Cape Town’s leafiest suburbs and on seven acres of manicured parkland, is a must-visit if you’re hotel wedding venue hunting,” says Gaby. “The reception area is a blank slate for your decor, with lots of lovely natural light, and the service they offer to brides-to-be comes highly recommended by many previous brides who’ve celebrated there.”

Best mid-range venue
: Lagoon Beach Hotel, Cape Town

The lowdown: “This hotel venue offers the perfect mix of beach and stunning views, with gorgeous Table Mountain vistas,” explains Gaby. “The sleek hotel interior is perfect if you love the feel of a hotel, while direct beach access offers perfect options for photographs. This venue is ideal if your dream is to get married by the ocean, but would like options that aren’t weather dependent.”

Best blowout venue:
The Twelve Apostles, Cape Town

The lowdown:
“In a city of incredible views, this hotel still has the wow factor – it’s flanked by Table Mountain and the Twelve Apostles, and it looks out over the Atlantic,” exclaims Gaby. “Wedding ceremonies at this five-star venue take place in the garden under a pretty gazebo, followed by a reception on the terrace. This hotel venue is perfect for destination brides and grooms and a favourite for those planning from abroad, since the in-house co-ordinators sort everything out for you.” (See the picture right at the top of this post for an idea of some of the mountain views this venue offers.)
