Try the Jam Jam (blueberry, tonic water, sugar syrup, mint and lime juice, R55) with the mixed grill bucket (spiced lamb cutlets, Cajun chicken, beef skewers and potato fries, R65). Cool things off with a swirl (frozen yoghurt in a variety of flavours, R25).
Three Cities Gateway Hotel Rooftop Bar

This eco-conscious, contemporary space looks out over the bustling city – a vibey way to knock back a margarita (R42) or strawberry daiquiri (R43). Then move on to the tempting menu. We love the lamb burger (R72) and double-decker sandwich (R50).

This revamped eatery is known for its awesome atmosphere and wholesome fare. Take in the sea view from the roof deck as you sip on a Cottie’s mojito (R25). And on Sundays, for R50 p/p, you can tuck into a roast (beef or pork with veggies, potatoes and Yorkshire puddings). Add live music and it’s a great way to end your weekend.

If fresh-produce stalls aren’t enough to tempt you to Braamfontein’s trendiest Saturday market, then the rooftop bar above the food stands will. Enjoy Dutch poffertjes at The Frying Dutchman (R40) or a Balkan burger (R40), with local craft beers (from R30), all while surrounded by striking city views.
Skye Bar

Grand panoramas and an opulent interior make Skye Bar a very special cocktail lounge. Try the appetising cheese platter (R65) while you savour a chic drink like a pink mojito (R55). And go after dark, when the impressive city lights are on display.

Sleek decor, a stylish vibe and great views make this a fabulous place for sundowners or after-dinner drinks, but it’s also an unusual setting for high tea, which is served every Saturday (from 2.30pm) and Sunday (from 3pm), with live music on Sundays. For R145 p/p you’ll get delicacies like smoked-salmon towers, freshly baked scones and Belgian chocolate brownies.

Breathtaking views, from the sea to the CBD, plus a terrific location make this one of the city’s most scenic spots. Come early and enjoy a dip in the rooftop pool before tucking into the party platter, a selection of 29 pieces of sushi (R200), accompanied by a cocktail or two – we loved the Sky ice (caramel vodka with passion fruit liqueur, R30), and the caipirinha (Brazil cachaça, lime and vanilla-infused sugar cane muddled over ice, R50). With a mix of live performing artists and DJs from 6pm every Saturday, you’ll enjoy a party vibe long after the sun has set.
Top of the Ritz Revolving Restaurant

This time-honoured eatery has become an iconic part of Sea Point’s skyline, and while the decor is somewhat dated, the views
from this rotating restaurant (which moves slowly to give you a 360° experience during your meal) make it a must-visit. Start with
the ostrich Carpaccio (R59.50), followed by the grilled duck breast with orange and sherry sauce (R154.50).
The Office

Formerly Blake’s Bar, this welcoming spot is reopening with a new look and a new name, as well as a roof terrace offering marvellous Table Mountain views. Relax with The Office martini (raspberry vodka, ginger liqueur, apple juice and strawberry pulp, R50) and sesame glazed ribs (beef ribs with sticky honey, R47), and soak up the rays of the late-setting sun.
