Zoe Modiga serves looks and soul at the DStv Delicious Festival

The ever-stylish, genre-defying Zoe Modiga’s presence at the DStv Delicious Festival left us breathless, not just with her music, but with fashion that speaks volumes. With her signature blend of soul, jazz, and African rhythms, Zoe brought the vibes both on stage and in style.

Glamour: Your fashion sense is just as expressive as your music. How do you approach styling for a festival like this, do you prioritise comfort, creativity, or cultural expression?

Zoe: I prioritise all that you mentioned with my styling because comfort, creativity and cultural expression do such a beautiful dance with each other. I always hope to awaken imagination and excitement through the pieces I wear. Exploring expansive ways of expressing myself boldly and freely with fashion is always the goal in mind.

Glamour: Do you collaborate with any designers or stylists specifically for festival appearances?

Zoe: Yes, my long-time collaborators, fashion designer and stylists Nao Serati, Didi Ntshudisane, and Nthabiseng Molebeleli dream up visual worlds with me. At times I’ll curate my own looks, so it all depends really.

Glamour: How would you describe your set for the Delicious Festival?

Zoe: The quintessential Zoë Modiga experience that cultivates a culture of freedom, a space of healing, and the making of unforgettable memories.

Glamour: How do you prepare mentally and emotionally for big performances like this, especially with such a diverse audience?

Zoe: In the words of Maya Angelou, I ask everyone who has ever loved me to get on that stage with me so that I never feel alone. That’s how I emotionally and mentally prepare myself, outside of the rehearsing and planning that shows take. I’m also carried by the energy that the wave of music and food lovers will bring.

Glamour: What does it mean to you to be part of such a celebrated cultural event that blends music, food, and community?

Zoe: It feels a lot like home.

Glamour: You’ve always embraced African excellence through your sound and visuals. How do festivals like Delicious help amplify that message?

Zoe: The Delicious Fest champions an African, intergenerational, colourful and expansive experience because that’s reflected in the artists on the line-up and in the cultural experience offered. What’s more, it connects people from different parts of the world and different walks of life, and reminds us of the beauty in the melting pot we are.

Glamour: With your unique fusion of jazz, soul, and African rhythms, how do you think your music connects with festival-goers who may be new to your work?

Zoe: I’m of the belief that what you most desire, what your soul most needs, is what you will find. Even better if you’re open to the experience, because you will be pleasantly surprised. I always hope for magic and wonder to be in our orbit as we make these memories together.
