Johannesburg lit up this past weekend as 12,000 festivalgoers descended on Casalinga in Muldersdrift for the sold-out Corona Sunsets Festival; a golden-hour celebration of music, nature, and mindful living. The vibes? Immaculate. The decor? On point. The food? Next-level. And the performances? Pure fire.
From the soulful house of Oscar Mbo to the electrifying energy of DBN Gogo, the genre-bending sounds of Major League DJz, and iconic sets from DJ Kent, Zakes Bantwini, Jeremy Loops, and 340ML, the lineup reflected the strength and diversity of South Africa’s music scene. A special highlight? The unforgettable Sunset Moment, soundtracked by the moving vocals of the Ndlovu Youth Choir performing When the Sun Goes Down.
But it wasn’t just about the music. The More Than Music Pavilion brought a different kind of energy ; a space for mindfulness and creativity. Festivalgoers experienced yoga and meditation with Dr. Anesu Mbizvo, mantra-led movement with Mandla Enoch (the African Dragonfly), and eco-conscious inspiration through the festival’s Protect Our Sunset sustainability initiative.
Add in Daniel Popper’s monumental art installation, a Corona-branded hot air balloon, aerial performers, interactive drum circles, and sustainable food gardens, and you had a multi-sensory festival experience like no other.
And for the first time ever, the magic wasn’t limited to Joburg. Thanks to an exclusive partnership with the SABC, the festival was broadcast live to millions across SABC 1, S3, and SABC Plus, amplifying the celebration to audiences nationwide.
