All your denim questions, answered!

When it comes to finding the perfect pair of jeans for your body shape, the struggle is real. But don’t worry – for every baffling question you have, we have a jean-ious answer. Here’s everything you need to know in order to find your match made in denim heaven.

Wide hips?

If you want to make your hips seem narrower go for a looser fit. A cigarette pant is usually a good solution. They will still make your legs look slim, but the looser fit makes the hip-to-leg ratio appear more even.

No hips?

If you have a boyish figure, boyfriend jeans are perfect for adding shape to your legs. Choose a pair that are sanded – the lighter areas will highlight parts of your body, creating the illusion of curves.

Short legs?

Being petite can cause some trouble when trying to find a pant length that flatters your pins. Our tip is to go for a cropped length. That sliver of ankle will make your legs look longer (or if you’re really short, at least be the right length for you!).

Long legs?

For those of you with longer limbs, flared jeans should be your go-to. They enhance your length nicely while making you appear more curvy!

Flat butt?

The position of the pockets is vital when it comes to shaping that booty (or lack thereof). Try a pair of jeans with details on the pockets like zippers or flaps, or a pair will large back pockets to give your butt some curvature.

Big butt?

Having a big booty is oh-so-wonderful. What’s not so wonderful is that gap that shows between your lower back and your jeans. Highwaisted jeans will fix this problem. They cinch in your waist (bonus!) and will keep your tush covered.

Which material?

A stretchy pair works for most body types due to the flexible nature of the fabric. When you buy stretch denim remember that the jeans will go baggy with wear, so make sure you buy them tight.

Which colour?

No matter which part of your lower body you’re conscious of, dark denim is  always the most flattering and slimming colour.

Which rise?

A mid-rise works well for almost every body type. It’ll keep you lower tummy in without going up so high that they highlight your little belly. ‘Just bellow the belly button’ is a good rule to go by.

Maintenance?

To keep your jeans from fading and the material from getting worn out too quickly, don’t wash your jeans after each wear. When you do wash them, make sure they’re inside out!
