MaXhosa Africa has reached another defining milestone in its global journey. After five consecutive seasons as the sole African based brand featured on the official Paris Fashion Week calendar of the Fédération dela Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM), the brand will officially present its first runway show during Paris Fashion Week Womenswear.
Set on the opening day of Paris Fashion Week, the showcase will be on 28 September 2026, at 17h00. This huge milestone marks 16 years of defining the brand’s identity as one of Africa's most recognised luxury fashion houses. As the only new entry approved for the runway schedule this season, the showcase is a clear stamp of the brand’s position within the global luxury landscape. A vast transition from its previous fashion week presentations to a full-scale, global runway event.
The Spring-Summer 2027 collection signals a new chapter for MaXhosa Africa, a confident statement from a house that has moved beyond establishing its place in the global fashion industry to defining what that place can be. The brand has developed a distinctive creative language rooted in African identity, while building exceptional artistry, infrastructure and global audience required to operate as an international luxury label.
In previous seasons, MaXhosa presented its collections through runway-style presentations on the official Paris Fashion Week Womenswear calendar. This season marks a significant progression, as the brand has been approved to present its first full runway show on the official schedule. This milestone marks MaXhosa Africa as the first South African brand to be approved for a full runway show on the official Womens wear Ready-to-wear calendar.
"For us, this Spring-Summer 2027 collection is about recognising how far we have come and being confidentin where we are going. We have spent 16 years building a brand with a clear identity, a strong culturalfoundation and the ability to stand on a global stage. This is not about proving that we belong. It is about owning our place and continuing to shape the future of African luxury on our own terms.”- Laduma Ngxokolo, Founder and Chief Creative Director, MaXhosa Africa
In terms of design, a cleaner visual language will be placed, with emphasis on garments, mastery of textiles and designs, while exploring modern African identity through a distinctly global lens. Culture remains central to the work, but is expressed through contemporary design rather than historical costuming. Music, movement and performance are woven in as extensions of the collection. All reflecting the creative energy and cultural influence shaping Africa today.
The ambition is both creative and commercial; to create a collection that commands attention, resonates with global luxury consumers and strengthens MaXhosa Africa's position among the defining fashion
