Summer is amongst us and we need to hydrate. A great way to do this is through nutritious smoothies that not only get our water content up but provide a host of other health (and beauty) benefits too. Smoothies also provide an essential way to feed our skin with key ingredients for healthy, glowing skin - as they say, the best way to achieve clear, luminious skin is through the inside out.

Ingredients such avocado, which provides Omega fatty acids, spinach and kale which are nutrient-dense age defying superfoods, and collagen-producing Vitamin C are the holy grail of an effective skin-enhancing smoothie.

This glowing skin smoothie from Sally’s Baking Addiction is not only energising and delicious but will give you a healthy glow from within.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup plain coconut water (or more as needed)
  • 2 frozen bananas (previously peeled and sliced)
  • 1 cup chopped pineapple (frozen or fresh)
  • 1 cup chopped mango (frozen or fresh)
  • 2 cups spinach or kale
  • 1/2 avocado, sliced
  • Optional: 1 Tablespoon ground flax or flaxseed oil
  • Honey to taste

METHOD

Place all ingredients into a blend on high for 3 minutes. Add additional coconut water to get your desired consistency.

Drink up and enjoy healthier skin, sharpness of mind and a new-found bounce in your step.
