WATCH: Our favourite performances from the Africa Day Concert 2021

The annual Africa Day Concert turned out to be the first-class showcase of African excellence we expected and more.

This year, the annual Africa Day Concert went virtual and was streamed live on MTV Base Africa and YouTube on Africa Day, May 25th. Hosted by Golden Globe and SAG winner Idris Elba, the concert showcased Africa’s next wave of talent who are currently taking over the global stage.

The artists who performed virtually on stages from Lagos to Johannesburg included, Bahati (Kenya), Bella Shmurda (Nigeria), Blaq Diamond (South Africa), Elaine (South Africa), Focalistic (South Africa), Gyakie (Ghana), Omah Lay (Nigeria), Suspect 95 (Ivory Coast), Teni (Nigeria) and Zuchu (Tanzania).

Below, we’ve made a list of four of our current favourite performances from the Africa Day Concert 2021 and included the stream to the complete concert, so turn it up and enjoy!

Elaine - South Africa

This South African R&B singer and songwriter shot to stardom with her number one hit “You’re The one”. Elaine is now signed to Columbia Records and has just released her latest track “Right Now”.

Blaq Diamond - South Africa

Ndumiso Mdletshe and Sphelele Dunywa make up South African Afro-pop duo from Ladysmith KwaZulu-Natal, Blaq Diamond. Their single "Ibhanoyi" released in 2019 won a SAMA Record of the year and mainstream stardom.

Gyakie - Ghana

Ghanaian Afrobeat/Afro-fusion artist Gyakie is actual music industry royalty and the singer is known for her singles "Love is Pretty" and "Never Like This."

Focalistic - South Africa

South African Hip-Hop star Focalistic has been praised for his unique sound which has been described as a blend of hip-hop, amapiano and kwaito. He recently dropped the track, Ke Star featuring DJ Vigro Deep.
