Taj Cape Town is the perfect location for your next girl’s day

How would you define the ultimate girls’ hangout spot? For us, it’s a place where you can do it all – indulge, pamper, connect. And if you can do all of this against a backdrop that begs to be made part of your Insta feed – well, so much the better.

That’s exactly what Taj Cape Town offers. This historic landmark hotel – which you’ll find in a building that once housed the South African Reserve Bank – recently received a refresh, which has made it one of the most gorgeous venues in the city. Throw in a fabulous location, just minutes from the city centre, and you have a clear winner.

So, what’s on offer? Let’s start with treats at The Pantry. This is one of several gorgeous new venues that were introduced at the time of the refresh (along with the Whiskey Bar) – and all we can say is, make sure you have a workout sesh planned for later! You’ll need it, because The Pantry is a haven of hedonism: think golden, flaky pastries and freshly baked treats, enjoyed alongside a foamy cappuccino or afternoon tea. Pure bliss!

Next stop? Jiva Spa, where highly skilled therapists can make you feel as though you’ve never heard the word ‘deadline’. Choose from a range of treatments and packages, and walk out feeling like the queen you are.

Finish your day with a visit to Bombay Brasserie, Taj Cape Town’s signature eatery. One of the reasons we love this restaurant (apart from the delicious cuisine; a tribute to the flavours of India with a local twist) is because it is headed by the immensely talented Farzanah Harris. Farzanah is the first woman to hold this prestigious position, and her influence is patently visible in the feminine flair she brings to the venue. She’s also introduced some exciting nuances to the much-loved menu: look out for dishes that recall her own Cape Malay heritage.

As for that Instagram reel? Prepare to get busy. Last year’s refresh left the hotel with a fresh, contemporary feel that offsets bold colours and textures reminiscent of the customs and culture of India, where the Taj brand has its origins. The result is a cocoon of luxury and sophistication, unabashedly opulent, sophisticated and refined.

Oh, before you leave, you may want to enjoy a champagne toast at the Taj Lobby Bar and Lounge – another venue which looks a little different after last year. We love it because of its nostalgically glamorous ambience; not to mention the views of St George’s Cathedral, one of Cape Town’s best loved buildings.

If you’re looking for a space to experience the Mother City at her very best, you’ve found it!
