Last Friday was World Water Day, and as usual, Giorgio Armani had something special up his sleeve.
Since 1990 the designer and Greencross International have given over 2 billion people access to clean drinking water. Last year alone saw them donate over 52 million litres of water globally, 60 000 of which were donated locally. This year their aim is to donate 100 000 litres across SA.
In fact, Giorgio is so taken with the cause, that he collaborated with Pantone to create the “Giorgio Armani Acqua For Life Blue”.
This year’s Acqua for Life campaign launched on Friday and will run until the end of April. To help raise funds (and awareness) the brand is launching two new fragrances, Acqua di Gio Essenza (male) and Acqua di Gioia Essenza (female). During the campaign, for every one of these fragrances (as well as the classic Acqua di Gio and Acqua di Gioia) bought, they will donate 100 litres of water. All you have to do is log onto their FB page and register your purchase. In addition, if you ‘like’ the page while you’re there, they will donate another 50 litres (50 litres can provide a child with clean drinking water for 200 days)! Quite incredible, isn’t it? You can get the fragrances at major retailers. The male fragrance is available in 75ml, R919 and 180ml, R1599. The female version is available in 50ml, R819 and 100ml, R1039.
