She’s undeniably conquered the music world with chart-topping albums spanning over a decade and more Grammy’s that we can remember. But now, it seems Beyoncé will be trying her hand at something new…
Beyoncé is set to write her own film screenplay based around the life of Saartjie Baartman or, as she is more widely known, the Hottentot Venus.
Baartman was a South African woman exploited in London ‘freak shows’ during the 1700s and early 1800s against her will because of her large bottom.
Naturally Beyoncé – who has already dabbled in acting with her roles in Austin Powers and Dreamgirls– also plans to star in the film. It is not yet know if she will take on the lead role as Baartman or will play a supporting role.
Props to Beyoncé for taking on this serious film project – we can’t wait!
