Forbes’ top-earning celeb for 2016 proves it’s the Year of Women

When she’s not making us feel all the feelings with her music and taking fully-clothed walks on the beach with new bf Tom Hiddleston, Taylor Swift really finds the time to get. Stuff. Done. Her last album may have been released in 2014, but, thanks to her 1989 World Tour, Taylor Swift is still making bank in the biggest way possible. So much so, in fact, that she’s topped the Forbes 100 list.

The 26-year-old singer, brand ambassador and serial two-piece wearer grabs the number one spot on the Forbes 100 list for 2016. Her earnings? Oh, just a casual $170-million – and the stuff of our wildest dreams.

Her enviable payday comes courtesy of her massive tour – the highest earning in history at a quarter of a million dollars. Taylor’s 2016 take is by far the highest total of her career. In fact, she more than doubled last year’s $80-million, an amount that was her previous best.

Nothing makes us happier than a fellow woman kicking ass, especially in a world where the gender pay gap is still very much a thing. And Taylor Swift isn’t the only woman on Forbes’ radar. Forbes Magazine’s latest cover star is none other than Kim Kardashian West, who earned $45-million from a single mobile game. That’s right – Kim K is the face behind the cover line ‘The New Mobile Moguls.’ What makes her victory even sweeter is the slightly shady hashtag in her latest Instagram post:

Such a tremendous honor to be on the cover of @forbes! I never dreamed this would happen and know my Dad would be so proud. #NotBadForAGirlWithNoTalent ????????

If these two aren’t definitive proof that the #GirlBoss is, in fact, just The Boss, we don’t know what is. If they can carry on at this rate, the rest of the entertainment industry doesn’t stand a chance.
