Jay Z and Beyoncé have reportedly spent R98 million on a townhouse in west London and plan to spend more time in the British capital in future.
The superstar couple have reportedly splashed out on a luxury detached townhouse in west London, having looked for properties in the trendy Mayfair area and outside of London in the Cotswolds.
The deal is thought to have closed on their new home four weeks ago.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Both Jay and Beyoncé are Anglophiles and have been toying with the idea of getting a pad for a couple of years now.
“On previous trips, they have stayed in five star hotels and, on one occasion, a rented mansion. While money isn’t an issue, it makes sense for them to have a more permanent base and get to know one particular area.”
A home in London would also make sense as the couple are rumoured to be performing on a joint tour that would arrive in Britain later this year.
The source added: “They are coming to England this year and touring before the year is out.”
Jay, 44, and Beyoncé, 32, appeared to enjoy themselves in the British capital earlier this year when Beyonce performed several sold-out concerts at The O2 arena.
The couple – who have a two-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy – were regularly seen out and about, visiting the trendy Arts Club in Soho and indulging in unusual cocktails at the quirky White Lyan pub in Hoxton, east London.
The “Drunk in Love” hitmakers currently reside in Jay’s native New York when they’re not travelling the world.
It’s also rumoured that Jay Z is splashing out R1.7 million on Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s honeymoon – to make up for the fact he won’t be attending their wedding.
The rap mogul has reportedly told his close friend that he, wife Beyoncé Knowles, and their two-year-old daughter Blue Ivy will miss the nuptials – which are expected to take place in Paris next month – because they are uneasy about the fact the celebrations will be filmed for the brunette beauty’s reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
However, to make things up to the “Bound 2” star – who has 10-month-old daughter North with Kim – Jay will throw him a lavish bachelor party at his New York club 40/40, and is also planning to spend R1.7 million on the couple’s honeymoon as a wedding gift.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Jay Z would be there if it wasn’t going to be such a public event.
“Instead he’s making it up to his mate by throwing him the most extravagant bachelor party known to man.
“It will cost a small fortune – and to top it all off, he’s chucked a R1.7 million yacht rental in there as a wedding gift as well.”
It was previously claimed that Kim and Kanye were so keen for Jay and Beyoncé to be at their wedding, they had agreed to exempt the couple from their strict security arrangements.
A source previously said: “There is no way Kanye would ever even dare to ask Jay or Beyoncé to sign a non-disclosure agreement, or take away their cell phones. He knows that neither one of them would betray his trust.”
