Joe Jonas has amicably split from Blanda Eggenschwiler after 20 months of dating.
The 24-year-old singer hopes to “remain friends” with the 30-year-old graphic designer and model after they “mutually decided” to end their romance after 20-months of dating.
A spokesperson for the singer told UsMagazine.com: “Joe and Blanda have mutually decided to part ways. The split was amicable and the two remain friends, with great respect for one another.” A source close to the duo also told E! News: “It was mutual. They both wanted to do new things. Joe wants to be single right now and they thought it was better if they are just friends.”
The Jonas Brothers star, who previously dated Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift and Ashley Greene, started dating the Swiss-born beauty in November 2012 after being introduced by a mutual friend.
Joe claimed in December that he really cared about Blanda. He said: “Now I’m with someone I really care about. We get each other.” But an eyewitness claimed there appeared to be tension between them a Hollywood party in June. The source said: “He posed for photos by himself and then stormed inside.”
His family is reportedly “relieved” he has split from her, as they believed he was very unhappy in the relationship and had allegedly started partying too much.
A source told gossip website RadarOnline.com: “She was always picking a fight with Joe and putting him down. Joe has been unhappy for a long time now, and she was one of the main reasons. Joe did not bring Blanda with him to Chicago to Lollapalooza this past weekend. He seemed to be happy and relaxed, which was a nice change.”
The insider continued: “Before meeting Blanda, Joe would go out and have fun, but not nearly as much as when they became a couple. She wanted to go out all the time, like every night. His family did not like Blanda at all. Everyone was always telling Joe that she was using him and he would not listen. She was incredibly jealous of all of his friendships with women, and she hated how women would throw themselves all over him. It eventually got to the point where Joe could not take it anymore.”
Joe insisted that he’s remained friends with Blanda after they “mutually decided to part ways.” But the source said: “I definitely do not see that happening.”
