We’ve been waiting for Kelly Clarkson to discuss her experiences and opinions on Dr Luke since we learned she worked with him on some of her biggest hits – and now she has.
After tweeting the below in support to Kesha, Kelly was asked about her relationship with Dr Luke on Kyle and Jackie O’s Australian radio show.
With regards to her tweet, Kelly said: “He’s just not a good person to me… we’ve clashed.”
Kelly was then asked about her collaboration with Dr Luke on hits such as Since U Been Gone, to which she responded: “He’s a talented dude, but he’s just lied a lot. I’ve run into a couple really bad situations. Musically, it’s been really hard for me because he will just lie to people. It’s like ‘What?’ It makes the artist look bad. He’s difficult to work with, kind of demeaning, it’s kind of unfortunate.”
She also commented how her label had essentially blackmailed her into working with the producer: “They were like we will not put your album out if you don’t do this.”
Kelly lastly addressed questions about her level of support for Kesha: “Her fans are like, ‘Why aren’t you standing up for her?’ and I’m like, ‘Well, I wasn’t there… I don’t know specifically what happened in their situation. Obviously I wasn’t there in the room.”
She also said she was not mistreated to the same extent Kesha was, but that “if it’s true [Kesha’s allegations] I can’t imagine working with someone who had done something like that.”
