Nearly 2 million tweets were recorded before 8 am on Monday after South Africa’s Zozibini Tunzi was crowned Miss Universe in Atlanta, Georgia, on Sunday.
The reigning Miss South Africa, a 26-year old woman from Tsolo in the Eastern Cape stole many hearts during the pageant.
People praised her poise and wit on issues including climate change, beauty and women empowerment.
Zozi’s confidence and advocacy for natural beauty had crowds cheering for her during the beauty pageant competition.
