Moroccan women’s weaving group Artisan Project partners with streetwear brand Stussy

Hot on the heels of dropping its Birkenstock collaboration, streetwear brand Stussy has now announced it’s next project.

The brand has partnered with Artisan Project - a women’s weaving co-operative based in Ain Leuh, Morocco, to produce a range of upcycled boucherouite t-shirt rugs.

The rugs will be made from archival T-shirts from Stussy’s warehouse in Irvine, California that did not make it through the routine quality check.

Each design takes inspiration from Californian coastal landscapes and surfboards - and ode to Stussy’s brand identity - as well from vintage Moroccan carpets and painterly gestures.

Limited to only 30 pieces, the carpets feature a collection of colour-blocked patterns, diamond silhouettes, intricately-woven stripes and abstract shapes.

The partnership marks the beginning of an on-going relationship between the brand and Artisan Project.

The rugs will drop exclusively on Stussy’s website and regional sites on 3 September.
