Moschino’s AW22 collection turned models into furniture and luxury household objects

Moschino showcased their Autumn/Winter 2022 collection at Milan Fashion Week last night, and like many collections presented recently (think, Schiaparelli at Couture Week), the collection incorporated an extra-terrestrial theme.

The set was a replica of “the French proverbial hotel room” in the film 2001: A Space Odyssey. “It’s like being in a cage in outer space,” designer Jeremy Scott told Vogue backstage. They put the furniture and all those elements there to make us feel at home, like you would animals in a cage; to give us the feeling of the things that make us feel cosy.”

That would explain another one of Scott’s unique themes: Luxury interior and household items. “It’s all the things you’d find in an old money mansion,” he said. “The wealth, the gilt, the Louis XIV dressers…”. Not only was the clothing inspired by this concept - but the models actually transformed into these items.

Each model embodied a furnishing from a stately home - from a grandfather clock and a Persian rug to a Renaissance painting and brass cutlery set.

As ostentatious as each garment was, Jeremy Scott didn’t skimp on accessories. Items such as chandelier earrings, a lampshade hat, and teapot handbag really brought each out to life and emphasised the luxurious theme.

Take a look at some of the show-stopping looks below:
