SEE: Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2019 collection

If you’re a fashion month enthusiast like myself, Louis Vuitton most recent show will be fresh in your mind. Bringing ‘Fashion Month’ to a close, LV showcased one of it’s most memorable and poignant collections to date, drawing a standing ovation from the crowd. The entire collection was backed by an overwhelming LED screen playing an extended version of SOPHIE’s It’s okay to cry - a significant moment for the transgender pop sensation, ultimately creating a platform and space for the transgender community within the most elite of fashion realms. Our very own Editor-in-chief was there to experience it for herself.

A couple days later, with LV still in mind, I was invited to an exclusive preview of Louis Vuitton’s Fall-Winter 2019 Women’s Collection. For the first time, Louis Vuitton Womenswear will be available for us to shop!

We we were welcomed to the Sandton LV store with smiles and bubbles, and taken through Nicolas Ghesquière’s FW19 Collection “Geolocated” which illustrates a combination of multiple individual creative directions, a “sartorial melting pot” as he describes it. Ghesquière realized that the Louis Vuitton woman is buying a lot more than just the basics, and is eager to tap into his customer’s unique and individual expression when it comes to fashion.

Leading him to create this collection of layered, sculptured, interchangeable and easy to mix and match collection. Kyle, who is guiding us through the different looks, explains how every garment has finer details that are customizable, giving you the ability to change your look according to how you’re feeling. We saw utility inspired pants with a curved zip details, that opened up to reveal the classic LV monogram. A cape that buttons up to create a sculpted top, layered over a floral blouse. I loved the the tomboyish tailored pieces contrasting with the feminine details, and of course all the monogram prints.

The collection is now available to shop in store, exclusively at Louis Vuitton in Sandton, Johannesburg.
