A roundup of Savanna Cider’s Durban July experience

The annual Durban July weekend is always one for the books. Ahead of the actual horse racing extravaganza, there’s a host of parties and events that build excitement for the big day.

This year, Savanna Cider hosted a spicy weekend of comedy and leisure in celebration of the new Savanna Chilled Chilli and Cruz Vodka.

The festivities started off with a Show Me the Funny comedy night hosted by Savanna. Known for their laidback Kasie food and culture, the event took place at Max’s Lifestyle in Umlazi.

Comedians Charles Philan and Monde Blose kept guests entertained all night, while spicy Savanna hostesses kept us fueled with the spicy but chilled Savanna Chilled Chilli.

On Friday, Cruz Vodka hosted a race day pre-party at Cuba Lounge in Gateway Shopping Centre. Rappers AKA and Da L.E.S performed to a jam-packed house. Along with Cruz bottles and cocktails flowing throughout the evening, the party definitely got people hyped for the main event.

At the Hollywood Bets Greyville Racecourse on Saturday, the Cruz Vodka Marquee was the place to be. We were treated to a performance by Shekinah while celebrities and influencers floated in and out of the party.

The festivities continued on Sunday with a Savanna after party and fashion show featuring the spiciest person of the weekend, Chakalaka Norris. The media star showed off their flamboyant fashion including outfits from Bam Collective, Nao Serati, Inga Madyibi, and more.

The event was hosted by Somizi while Nasty C, DJ Tira, and Daliwonga performed.
