It’s not just what you wear. It’s how you arrive.
Confidence coach, creative director and performance strategist, Mervin Marvey, is fast becoming one of South Africa’s most respected voices in image, identity, and public presence. Through his bespoke practice, M&M Coachings, Mervin helps individuals align who they are with how they show up — in rooms, on stages and across screens.
At GLAMOUR Magazine Mother’s Day Event, Mervin offered guests a glimpse into that transformation, giving away to one lucky winner a curated experience valued at R10 000. The package includes a virtual consultation, an in-person strategy and confidence session and a professionally styled editorial photoshoot featuring designer brands and creative direction by Mervin himself.
With clients ranging from rising performers to former Miss South Africas, international queens and titleholders to industry legends, boardroom professionals and public speakers, Mervin’s coaching focuses on far more than appearances. His method is rooted in self concept clarity — asking each client to explore three key questions: Who am I? How am I? Why am I?
A strong believer in building confidence through story and structure, Mervin brings deep experience to the table. Born in Rustenburg, North West province, his career began at the age of five where he performed in church and community spaces. He went on to earn a BA in Performing Arts (with a minor in Psychology) from Plymouth State University in the USA, where he later won Best Supporting Actor in New Hampshire for his performance in Rent — becoming the first South African to receive the honour. Over the past decade, he’s worked as a casting director, actor, stylist, and educator, with performances across Florence, Las Vegas, Tennessee and Off-Broadway stages.
Mervin is also the Founder and Artistic Casting Director of ICFK (International Casting Fashion Kids) — a youth-focused platform that develops and showcases young talent on global fashion stages such as Colombia Fashion Kids and Orlando International Fashion Week. The programme blends performance, self-development and professional runway exposure with a strong focus on giving back. Participants are required as part of their application and encouraged throughout their contract to support causes like Missing Children South Africa, using their platforms to raise awareness and drive positive change.
Whether in one-on-one sessions or on international runways, Mervin’s mission remains the same - to help individuals express themselves with authenticity, confidence and purpose — and to do it in a way that reflects the full spectrum of who they are.
