The return of Euphoria season 3 was always going to be a cultural moment, but the online reaction has been far more layered than simple excitement. After such a long hiatus, anticipation was high, yet as soon as the first episode landed, the conversation quickly shifted from hype to critique.
Social media didn’t hold back. While many were initially eager to reconnect with the characters, that excitement was almost immediately met with mixed feelings. A major point of discussion has been the noticeable shift in tone. With the five year time jump pushing the characters into a new phase of life, some viewers feel the show has lost some of the raw, emotional edge that defined earlier seasons.
We went from a high school drama to a Mexican cartel documentary quick

A lot of people online have been saying the new direction feels a bit all over the place. Instead of the deeply personal, coming-of-age storytelling, the show now leans more into chaos and intensity. Some viewers are here for it and see it as a bold shift, while others feel like it’s doing too much and losing its core in the process.
Unsurprisingly, character arcs have become a focal point of the discourse. Cassie’s storyline, in particular, has sparked ongoing debate, with many questioning certain creative choices and whether they push boundaries in a way that feels necessary or excessive. It’s a conversation that reflects a broader audience awareness around how stories about young women are told and consumed.

Still, the show hasn’t lost its strengths entirely. Visually, it remains as striking as ever, and Zendaya, in particular, is once again being recognised as a standout, with many viewers admitting that her presence alone keeps them invested, even when the storyline feels uncertain. There are viewers who aren’t ready to write the season off just yet. Some are choosing to give it time, hoping the story will come together as the season unfolds.
Zendaya killed that shit everything she was on my screen I was entertained. They can throw the rest of the plot lines away

Unpopular opinion: I actually enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to the story building it’s a different vibe than season 1 & 2 but that should’ve been expected.
