5 Special ways to treat your mom this Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and most of us are frantically running through the stores trying to find a special gift (you don’t want to show up at mom’s door empty-handed!). If you’re feeling a little strapped for cash (aren’t we all?) or you want to do something unique for your mother,  Kriya Gangiah has five great alternative ways to spoil her this Mother’s Day.

1

Movie night with Mum

We all treasure those rare moments when we get time to snuggle up on the couch and watch a good movie. Get a copy of your mum’s favourite movie, set up a mini home theatre and have an indoor picnic while watching a great flick. Don’t forget to bake some dessert – Kriya recommends anything with chocolate fondant!

2 Make a ‘coupon book’

Create a personalise coupon book to gift your mother. An example of a coupon would be a night off from cooking, a car wash, help with the gardening or a delicious breakfast in bed. If you decide to go this route, make sure that the coupons aren’t for things that you’re already expected to do – that doesn’t count!

3 DIY your way to her heart

Kriya is a Pinterest addict and swears that it’s the perfect place to search for Mother’s Day gifts that you can make. Spend a bit of time searching around the Mother’s Day gift section, you’ll definitely find something that fits your budget and creative ability.

4 Frame it

Take a look through the photo archives on your phone and you’re bound to come across a family snap or a beautiful picture of you and your mum. Get it professionally printed and find a really nice frame to put it in. If you have a little bit of extra money to spend, you can get it enlarged and printed on a canvas.

5 Pamper party for two

Your mum will absolutely love this one! Set up a mini mani or pedi station at home and treat mum to her very own spa day. Bring out all her favourite nail colours, an exfoliating scrub or give her a back massage. You could even add in a home facial or mask.

Wishing all the moms, aunts, grannies and women a very happy Mother’s Day!
