Here’s everything that went down on the Real Housewives of Cape Town episode one

This article may contain spoilers!

The Real Housewives of Cape Town are finally here! Last night, fans were introduced to the six ladies who will be serving us tea, drama, and fabulous looks for the rest of the season - and safe to say, there’s a lot that went down.

The cast is made up of Camilla McDowell, Loveline Abinokhauno

AKA Mrs Leo or ‘Loveline’, Thato Montse, Beverly Steyn, Rushda Moosajee, and Kutazwa ‘Rooksy’ Gqirana.

The ladies all met at a glamorous cocktail party thrown by Mrs Leo at Cabo Beach Club. The party was attended by the six housewives along with a number of Loveline’s friends and acquaintances. Although this was the first official meeting for the housewives, they did not hold back with throwing out catty remarks right off the bat.

The feud already started when property owner and investor, Beverly Steyn, decided to voice her disdain for Rushda’s dress choice - a skimpy-looking black stocking dress that had everyone talking.

Meanwhile, as the hostess, Mrs Leo, was visibly underwhelmed and unimpressed with her guests’ interpretation of the theme.

However, that was not the only drama for her during the episode. The blogger and ‘momfleuncer’ appeared to have a brewing feud with fashion business owner, Rooksie. The pair are the only two cast members who have a friendship that precedes the show, but got into a war of words over the fact that Rooksie apparently did not disclose to Mrs Leo that she would be joining the cast of the Real Housewives of Cape Town. The spat ended with no clear resolve insight, meaning that more is set to unfold between the two as the season progresses.

Another talking point of the show was Thato and Beverly’s unlikely budding friendship. While the two have completely different personalities, they somehow bizarrely click, even referring to themselves as “black and white Barbie”. The ladies enjoy as one on one lunch at the Grand Pavilion in Sea Point, and Thato opens up about her struggles with her son.

While it’s still early in the season, the dynamics between the ladies are already looking juicy, and we can’t wait to see all the friendships, feuds, and fabulousness that unfolds.

Glamour was exclusively invited to the screening of the first episode at the Crystal Towers Hotel, Cape Town, where we were treated to refreshing Belvedere Vodka cocktails. The drinks were flowing and exuded a structured, elegant and balanced taste profile, with a subtle sweetness, velvety rich mouthful and smooth, clean finish.
