Review: The Samsung Galaxy A37 is Your Gateway to a World of Awesome

They say the modern woman asks for a lot, but perhaps it simply depends on who you ask. From the perspective of the Samsung Galaxy A37, every need is valid. Whether it’s balancing productivity, creativity, connection, or moments of escape, the Galaxy A37 is designed to keep up with every facet of your world: seamlessly, stylishly, and, of course, awesomely.

The relationship I’ve established with my Samsung Galaxy A37 requires a healthy level of honesty, so I’ll admit that I was a little reluctant to dive in. Firstly, it’s drop-dead gorgeous. The sleek design, glossy finish, and minimalist triple-camera detail immediately made me suspicious that it was all aesthetics and no substance. So, naturally, I let it sit there looking pretty for a few days while I admired it from a distance. Eventually, though, I could almost hear it begging for a proper test drive.

Nine Yards in Rosebank

I had heard about a new spot in town called Nine Yards, and immediately thought: what better way to hard-launch our relationship and test its commitment than to take it around the whole Nine Yards? Thankfully, it did not disappoint.

The very first image I captured was so crisp and detailed that I instantly got carried away, wandering off on my own little adventure before eventually rejoining the media group. The 50MP main camera truly shines in moments like these, effortlessly capturing sharp images without me needing to fiddle with settings. Whether it was lush greenery, textured interiors, or spontaneous moments between stores, the Galaxy A37 adapted beautifully. Even in dimmer corners and mood-lit spaces, Nightography stepped in quietly, delivering clear, balanced photos that still felt true to the atmosphere.

The Samsung Galaxy A37 takes crisp images and allows me to edit on the go

I particularly enjoy editing on the go, and if we’re being honest, the Samsung Galaxy A37 might just be an overachiever. The built-in AI-powered editing tools made the process feel seamless. I could quickly remove distractions in the background with Object Eraser, refine photos with Edit Suggestions, and apply filters that elevated the mood without overcomplicating the process. There were so many stores to visit that I eventually gave up trying to type notes and started recording voice memos instead. Later, the Voice Transcription feature effortlessly turned those recordings into text, saving me from the chaos of trying to remember every detail after the event.

That’s perhaps what surprised me most about the Galaxy A37: it isn’t just beautiful, it’s genuinely helpful. Samsung’s new “Awesome Intelligence” features feel designed for real life rather than novelty. AI Select became unexpectedly useful while multitasking, especially when moving between apps, saving images into notes, or pulling text from screenshots without unnecessary steps. And because life rarely slows down, the upgraded battery easily kept up with my wandering, filming, editing, posting, and inevitable doom-scrolling in between. With its 5,000mAh battery and Super Fast Charging, the A37 feels built for people who are always moving.

Samsung describes the new Galaxy A series as part of its commitment to “AI democratisation,” bringing smarter tools and intuitive features to more users without compromising accessibility. Thankfully, none of it feels intimidating or overly technical. Instead, the experience feels natural, almost like the device quietly understands the rhythm of your day.

Streaming content while commuting, switching between editing apps, responding to messages, and uploading content never once felt sluggish. The performance remained smooth throughout, helped along by the vivid Super AMOLED display that somehow made everything, from gallery photos to late-night scrolling, feel immersive. Even outdoors, under Johannesburg’s unforgiving sunlight, the screen remained bright and easy to navigate.

I’m obsessed with image quality, so naturally I got carried away, capturing everything in sight.

Of course, durability matters too, especially for someone as clumsy as me. The IP68 water and dust resistance rating offered some reassurance every time I carelessly tossed it into my handbag alongside water bottles, makeup, and whatever else lives in there. Samsung Knox Vault and the added privacy features also gave me peace of mind, especially knowing personal content and sensitive information are protected without me constantly having to think about it.

By the end of the day, somewhere between strawberry sorbet, a breathing session at The Well, and a pepperoni pizza at Ole Ole, I realised the Samsung Galaxy A37 had quietly integrated itself into every part of the experience. It documented moments beautifully, simplified my workflow, kept me connected, and somehow still had battery life left over by the time I got home.

The Samsung Galaxy A37 is more than just a pretty face

So yes, I may have initially judged it for being too pretty. But beneath the polished exterior is a device that genuinely shows up for you. And perhaps that’s the real definition of awesome.
