YOU NEED THIS: The FOREO Bear™ microcurrent device is everything your skin wants

Imagine a yoga class but for your face. This non-invasive microcurrent device will give you an instant facelift in three minutes. You can use it in addition to your skincare routine, in the morning or at night. I love love, love that its T-sonic pulsations act as a face massage element. To activate this function, all you need to do is double-tap the power button. The electric current stimulates the skin, encouraging cell renewal, and the device uses microcurrent technology to tighten, lift and smooth the skin, which is harder for topical treatments to achieve.

So, how do you use this baddie?

I’ll admit, even though I’m familiar with microcurrent devices, at first glance, the FOREO Bear™ (R4899) was intimidating. But, surprisingly, that was what motivated me to dive right into trying this little cutie.

Cleanse the skin first. I prefer to keep a spray bottle with me and work in sections, as the face needs to be wet for the microcurrents to penetrate the skin properly, giving you the best results. Upon starting, apply a generous amount of water-based serum or gel to the area you want to begin with, directing the microcurrent past the layer of the skin. Another bonus is that FOREO has a matching serum (R1799) that goes with the Bear. It’s hydrating firming and replenishing. When applying the serum to your face it’s important to note that the serum mustn’t evaporate, so you should work from section to section on the face to prevent the product from drying out.

The Bear operates on a three-minute cycle and switches off once the cycle is complete, which you can extend if you need more time. You can set the power intensity to your liking, which is really great as you can increase and decrease the intensity to suit your skin’s needs. The electrical intensity current levels vary from one to five. A current passes through the steel balls on top of the device, which should easily glide over the skin. Move in slow and moderate strokes and apply medium pressure. This powerful device uses microcurrents to lift the facial muscles and plump the skin. Those added vibrations we mentioned earlier that come in the form of T-sonic pulsations boost circulation and can do what a gua sha or jade roller can by depuffing those areas that need it. How’s that for a multi-use gem?

It’s important to note that you should only use this device once every 24 hours, as it works as a face workout, toning and sculpting all the facial muscles and plumping and contouring the skin. It provides lymphatic drainage and a microcurrent facial in one.

As with any product, to see results, you need to use it consistently, and the same goes for microcurrent products. I’d recommend using it for at least a week, after which you’ll start seeing visible results. However, it’s important to note that Foreo recommends using the device every day for two months to see full results.

FOREO is available at ARC, Takealot, Superbalist, and @home.
