Miss SA Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters takes the Miss Universe crown!

Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters has been crowned Miss Universe 2017. She is only the second South African to win the title after Margaret Gardiner won in 1978. The 22-year-old business management graduate beat 91 contestants in Las Vegas on Sunday. Laura Gonzalez of Colombia was the first runner-up and Davina Bennett of Jamaica the second runner-up. Demi says that she’s humbled and proud to be crowned Miss Universe and dedicated her award to South Africa. “Africa, I love you. Thank you for everything. I am Miss Universe and this is for you.”
