Star Wars: The Force Awakens enjoys night of success at MTV Movie Awards

Star Wars: The Force Awakenswas the big winner at the MTV Movie Awards in Burbank, California this weekend (09.04.16).

The JJ Abrams-directed effort was named Movie of the Year at the star-studded event, while one of the much-hyped film’s central performers, Daisy Ridley, took home the Breakthrough Performance gong.

What’s more, Adam Driver was named the best villain for his own starring role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which was released to critical and commercial acclaim in late 2015.

Elsewhere, the event – which was hosted by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Kevin Hart – also recognised the efforts of Deadpool and Pitch Perfect 2, which each claimed two awards.

Meanwhile, Straight Outta Compton won the coveted Best True Story prize.
