When her romance with Prince Harry went public, Meghan Markle stopped posting on Instagram and Twitter before, just last month, deleting all her social media accounts for good. The Suits actress’s onscreen counterpart, however, is not so restrained. On Thursday, filming began for Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance, Lifetime’s made-for-TV movie about the couple, and Parisa Fitz-Henley, who plays Markle in the film, uploaded a photo to her own Instagram account to mark the milestone.
In the selfie, she and Murray Fraser, who plays Prince Harry in the movie, pose with their heads close together while — gasp! — lying in a bed. Fraser, whose strawberry-blond curls and scruff make him a dead ringer for the royal, appears to be shirtless under the covers, while Fitz-Henley, also a perfect doppelgänger for the royal-to-be, is in a bubblegum-pink sweater or robe. “✨Sweet Dreams to you✨ Love, #HarryandMeghan #ARoyalRomance 👑💏✨ @Lifetimetv #MurrayFraser 💓 Day 1 #gingerlove,” Fitz-Henley captioned the photo.
Lifetime is clearly angling to get the movie done as quickly as possible — though an official premiere date has yet to be set, the film will presumably air just before the royal wedding in May; Lifetime’s film about Prince William and Kate Middleton aired just 11 days before their April 2011 nuptials. The company announced that the movie was in the works just last month and only confirmed that the two leads had been cast earlier this week. According to Deadline, the movie, which is filming in Los Angeles and Vancouver, will cover Markle and Prince Harry’s relationship from the very beginning of their courtship through their engagement. “The film will examine the history of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from the moment they met after being set up by friends, through their initial courtship when they were able to keep their romance under wraps, and ultimately the intense global media attention surrounding their relationship and Meghan’s life as a divorced American actress,” the outlet noted.
